Endoscopy Center of Incheon Himchan General Hospital has a gastroenterologist with extensive clinical experience and provides accurate diagnosis and fast treatment for various digestive diseases, using high-definition endoscopic medical equipment. One Stop system is operated, which enables examination and treatment on the day of visit. For safe sleep endoscopy, personal examination is preceded. During the endoscopy, the cardiopulmonary function is continuously monitored so that a patient can be assured of the examination. After a sleep endoscopy, a recovery room allows enough rest.

Polypectomy

Polyps in the stomach and intestines are not harmful as themselves, but if cancer cells are partially hidden or left unattended, they can be developed to cancer. It is recommended to remove the polyps. Polypectomy is a procedure in which the polyp is treated through an endoscope without laparotomy and the polyp is cut with electricity using a wire snare or electric cautery.

As the treatment is simple, there is no need to be hospitalized and anesthesia is not required. You can go home right after the treatment.

Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)

This is an endoscopic treatment for patients with early gastric and colon cancer. The mucous membrane is inflated after physiological saline injected directly under the lesion, which is cut out with a special instrument.

※ In rare cases, bleeding may occur during endoscopic treatment.

When should I get an endoscopy?
  • Adults over 40 should undergo a gastrointestinal endoscopy every 1-2 years, even without symptoms.
    (National Health Insurance Service insures gastric endoscopy every 2 years for over 40 and colonoscopy annually for over 50.)
  • If you have a family history of stomach or colon cancer, it is recommended that you take a regular endoscopy even before 40.
  • Heartburn, pain in the upper abdomen, bloating after eating
  • Inflammatory bowel disease, pain in the lower abdomen
